I just noticed today this instance has been running for over a year. It flew by so quickly, never any downtime, any problems at all. Massive shout-out to @mastohost for their great service!

Night of the Day of the Dawn of the Son of the Bride of the Return of the Terror

@ChristmasCarol Thanks Carol! I’m glad you got on here and had a chance to look at these. Definitely a trip to remember, and my first time in northern Canada. Here’s a leftover video of a family of buffalos next to the Alaska Hwy.

Some more photos of yesterday’s journey along the southern half of Hwy 37 rounding out what the road signage calls the “Great Northern Circle Route”. By around 1:00 PM I will have completed this route in its entirety.

The camping part of this trip has ended. I reached Smithers to light rain and a closed park. Overnighted in a motel. They’re forecasting thunderstorms everywhere I would have stayed tonight, so instead I’ll be crashing at my friend’s place in 100 Mile House Friday and Saturday night then back to Vancouver. I’m happy with how the trip went overall. I wasn’t expecting perfection. I did manage to hit all of my touch points and experience 24 hour daylight. Well worth the drive!

Reached one of my touch points - Stewart, . A couple more bear sightings on Hwy 37A, beautiful town surrounded by snow capped mountains that poke way above the clouds. Stewart borders with Hyder, Alaska. I checked with Border Services - as expected going there and back would trigger a federally mandated 14 day quarantine. I snapped that last photo at the border complex just 2 feet from .

Bear sighting on Hwy 37 south of Bell II - one of many. This one is relatively close.

So from the top of and Hwy 37 I hauled ass to the Red Goat Lodge in Iskut a day ahead of schedule. Lots of bear sightings, every community is indigenous some open, most of them closed to visitors and barricaded due to covid.

Wednesday did not go as planned. All 3 northern territories have covid checkpoints. There are 2 northern BC hwy’s that meet in Yukon. There is no other way to connect but to drive a 37 km stretch through Yukon. Territorial officers disagreed with what their own gov hotline told me last week that it was okay to overnight there as long as I’m out in 24 hrs. Instead they made me drive straight through and back to BC where there’s no cell service for 600 km and no close by camping.
